My first thought was Moorepark? It's at the same strip joint as 7-11.... Let me see.... When you walk in, reservation? No, we didn't have one, but they made us a table. The restaurant is design like in Japan, very small, cozy and you can watch the chef shave the daikon with the knife to make garnish. One big table is set up, and three smaller tables, but they have extra table to connect. It's really a fun restaurant. To me personally, two or three people, I rather be sitting on the bar to watch them cook. We get to see how they prepare the sushi. If you seen Iron Chef Japan, they are it. Very classical Japanese cooking technique with an amazing knife skills. It's very rare to see a Japanese owner / operator / chef restaurant here in Los Angeles, this place is a hidden gem!! Everything is homemade. My favorite dish is Sesame Chicken. Close your eyes and imagine.. A crispy light airy aroma of toasted sesame. The warm aroma lifting off the chicken. Mayo / lemon dip. Squeeze the lemon over the mayo and chicken. When you bite in to it, crispy batter, with supper moist chicken breast or tenderloin, so soft it melts in your mouth, you think you are eating fish. Take a closer look, it's chicken!!! That creaminess of the mayo and tang from the lemon, every bite is like heaven in your mouth. You take a shot of warm Sake and chase it with an ice cold Sapporo beer. A meal that you can not forget. I've eaten at many restaurants, even at Yamashiro, to me, by far this restaurant will give you new meaning of what a real Japanese Sushi should be. If you want to experience the real Japanese Restaurant at a very good price, you don't have to look far, come and try it for your self. Large group, please make reservation, small group, sit at the bar and watch the skills of the chef. The true art of Japanese cooking is to bring out it's natural flavor with the simplest ingredients. Now a day all these fancy restaurants are just adding layers of flavors to mask the freshness and it's true
